Anyone change their stock steering wheel to a smaller one?

There have been lots of them changed for smaller. Best to have power steering when you do. Otherwise, you need that large diameter.

There is a thread on here about a guy that cut down his stock wheel to a smaller diameter to keep the stock look. Search for it if you are interested in going that route.

Abe, that is exactly what I was planning to do one day! I think the stock wheel looks cool but no one makes a new one in a smaller diameter!

I've got a smaller after market steering wheel I'm looking to sale if anyone is interested I can post a picture. It has the wood look wheel with billet aluminum interior.

Mounting kit

What mounting kit do you use for the aftermarket wheels. I've been looking and they all seem kind of expensive, compared to the one I bought in 1971, duh!. Of course the exact same steering wheel I bought for $19.95 then is now $45.
Had a 13 inch on my 55 F100, it was okay as long as you were rolling but you had to get a little psyched up to parallel park.

I just got rid of a cool aftermarket Mooneyes steering wheel because it was too hard to turn the wheels without power steering. Replaced it with a large diameter original Ford wheel off eBay. It is night and day better. There's a reason the OEM steering wheels are so big....LEVERAGE.

I want to do something like that but also figure out a way to get it on a modern steering column. Anybody got ideas?

I have done it, shrunk my 47 cadillac wheel and put it on a GM column. Pics are in this thread.

Here's the one im taking off if anyone is interested. Its pretty plane and does have some blemishes on the aluminum interior. This was put on by the PO and just doesn't do it for me. Trying to make it feel more like its mine a piece at a time.

Hope everyone likes my toenail polish haha (wife)
