Leveling Kit Question
I'm sure this question has been asked many times but, I am looking to level my 93 F150 4x4 5.0. It is currently stock with the front end sitting approximately 2 inches lower than the rear. Do the spring coil spacers actually work well or should I go ahead and get new coil springs? If there are any leveling kits that you know of, any recommendations would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.
thanks
I found the spings on amazon for about $70.00
It was a pretty easy job. If you are mechanically inclined at all, it shouldn't be a problem. I did it with hand tools and took me about an hour and a half. You will need a floor jack, jack stand, torque wrench (or breaker bar), socket extensions, and a 1-1/8 socket. Use the floor jack to raise the truck via axle and the jack stand to rest the truck on the frame. The axle needs to be raised and lowered throughout the process.
1. take front wheels off
2. disconnect the shock from the radius arm (lower end)
3. remove upper restraining bolt of the spring
4. lower axle with floor jack
5. loosen/remove lower restraining nut of the spring (1-1/8in socket)
6. remove spring
7. replace with new spring
8. torque lower restraining nut to 70-90 pounds
9. raise axle with floor jack so upper restraining bolt meets frame
10. tighten upper restraining bolt to 30 pounds
11. reattach shock to radius arm
12. reattach wheel
I hope this helps!
