Payload Question

I am looking at a used 2016 Super Duty, 4X4, 6.7L Crew Cab, 12K miles XLT Trim, 6.5 bed.

If I look up the Payload Chart on the Ford website it lists the payload at 3100 lbs, however when I look at the payload sticker on the truck it shows only 2323 lbs

FYI, the GVWR is the same on both the Payload Chart and the VIN sticker at 10,000 lbs.

What gives?

The options on your truck add weight and take away from payload. The Diesel engine is heavier and also takes away from payload.

For example, I have the same truck as you but it's a 2015 xlt fx4, with the 6.2L engine- my payload is 27xx pounds.

The payload chart on the Ford website is for generic model truck, it doesn't take into account options that are added at the factory and the dealer. The sticker on the truck is based on the weight of the truck as it left the factory. It doesn't take into account any options added by the dealer (or the actual weight of the driver and passengers).
The most accurate numbers are obtained at the scales.
