Hey guys....a very sad and angry Greystreak here. Vandals got her last night. Dropped a match into the interior or something like that. St. Louis FD hasn't determined it yet but they got me and another car on the block. She's a total loss. Interior doesn't even exist anymore except for seat frames and a stump where the steering column reaches upwards. To add insult to injury, I am all but finished with the "custom top" that I made from the one I bought from Strauntonbronco when he rolled his. I now have two perfectly good tops. Oh well, the wife is insisting we replace her with a "bigger, shinier one with bigger wheels and tires". I knew I loved that woman for some reason. I'll post pictures to my gallery unless someone cares to explain how to do it in the thread. Warning, they are NOT for the faint of heart. Gotta go see what insurance will do for me. She's already surfing for another one.

 

I'm really sorry to hear about that. I will never understand that kind of mentality. But if you could get just five minutes alone...

 

Damn bro, im sorry to hear that. I know how you feel though. Last year a "Career Criminal" stole my 91 Cougar that i modified into a 11 second quarter mile, and went for a joy ride. Needless to say the car really wasnt street legal here in NYC and the idiots couldnt hanlde it. They wrapped it around a telephone pole and took off. Well one really didnt make it out. He broke almost every bone in his body and was arrested. He rated his other friends out. This was not much consolemnt seeing that i only had liabilty on the car. Its a sickening feeling. Thats why i went out a bought me a Bronco. It filled the gap of my Cougar.

Im thinking of installing a set of those Eurpoean alarm systems that are illegal here in the states. You know the one with the fuel lines hidden along side the doors of the vehicle that spit out flames when alarmed.....

 

Sorry about the loss greystreak. That was a real sweet looking Bronco.

 

That's terrible, man. People like that make me want to vomit.

 

That sucks. I don't understand why someone would do that for no reason. I hope they catch them. But I'm glad that you had insurance.

That is a shame as well as a crime!!!
Read up on insurance in your state by a www search. Don't take their first offer!
Read this for example:

If the value is disputed by either you or the insurer based on those sources, the only accurate determination can be made with similar vehicles available in the market. The condition of the vehicle, mileage and options are all used in determining your vehicle's value..."

...The "with similar vehicles available in the market" was the key for us when the ins co. tried to low ball us on our aerostar. We banged heads for a moth and finally succeded in getting dealer's retail value + (aftermarket items we installed and fairly new tires) for it vs below trade-in price. So start your search for high priced sim year Broncos in MO!

I just saw the gallery pics. Looks like a total loss to me. I think they must have done more than just drop a match in it to do that. They probably poured some gasoline or something in there. Probably punk kids, nothing will happen to them even if they do catch them.

I know it's tough, the good thing is you're ok. They can be replaced. Everything happens for a reason, i'm just not sure why.

Is it a total loss? The front end looks like it wasn't hurt. Is the engine okay?

It appears to be salvageable. I think that with a little hard work and some replacement parts you could have a decent truck again.
