Lost in Transmission
Ok people. I'm at a bit of a loss.
1986 F150 Flareside, 300l6, 4speed manual....Transmission code on my door Jam C....which is for a Ford 3 speed.....
My truck has 4 forward gears... do I have a 3speed (with overdrive)? Or do I have a swapped transmission??
I've attached pictures of the stamping which is on the driver side of the truck.
The whole thing is cast, including the top plate, as it is magnetic.
Can someone help me ID the thing? The tailshaft seems to look the most similar to the ford 3 speed, but it does indeed have 4 forward gears.

is correct for the case of an NP435 tranny, which is a 4-speed although 1st is a granny gear. Does yours look like this?IMO, it's a RTS TS-OD = Top Shift 4 Speed Overdrive: 1984/89 F150 & Bronco.
Lower pic shows shift lever and etc.

Thats TOTALLY what my trans is!
I'm still thinking the transmission was swapped, as trans code C is supposed to be for a 3 speed?
But thanks so much, I was driving myself crazy because it wasn't a threespeed, and didn't appear to be the new process or the borg and warner design. Its clearly the ford design with the long cast tailshaft, and fill plug kinda low on the side of the trans. MYSTERY SOLVED
Now to see what the gearing and reputation is of this 5 year transmission.
Updates: Anyone know where to get parts for this trans? Seems like info in few and far between, and just to be clear, this is not the same as a Tremec transmission (176?) is it?
