Hey everyone I'm building a 01 7.3 f-350 for a buddy I have the engine out of the truck and I'm looking for parts for the truck like where's the best place to buy and part numbers ? So he tows 18k once a week 200 miles per trip and then rest of the time it's his DD but snow plows in the winter some big lots so I'm looking for the
1 fluid amp harmonic balance
2 gtp38r turbo and I will be using 160/30 does this set up be ok ?
3 tuner (I like SCT ) but will need more then 3 tunes for work and play
But I can work with what you guy knows that works
4 comp cam 910 valve springs
5 good lifters ? Will the oem do the job I'm try for 450 hp
6 T-500 HPOP
7 ARP head studs
8 bearing for rods and mains does someone sell coated ones ?
9mellin high volume low pressure pump ? I might be wrong on this one???
And if anyone has parts to add to my list that's great and I would love to hear them I already have a fass fuel system with a pressure return and bowl delete kit cold air intake and 4" exhaust turbo back
Thank you guys for any and ALL help
Talk to Clay at Riffraff Diesel for parts. Those should be good injectors for what he wants but I don't think your make 450hp at the wheels. Could be wrong but I'd say maybe 400RWH. And stock fuel pump should work good with that set up. The Regulated & return set up makes it better.
Have you thought about a chip rather than a tuner? There are several options but the PHP Hydra seems to be the most popular here lately, you can change tunes on the fly (rather than having to shut the truck down, load a new tune, then start it back up) and get plenty of custom tunes, Gearhead and Tony Wildman are good place to look for these in my opinion. Call them and tell them your plans and they will give some guidance on their preferences and what they have historically found best works with their tunes.
The head studs may not be necessary, the hers in these are pretty solid until you really start to push the limits, but studs will cause no harm either.
Another thing to consider is whether the truck has PMR's or forged rods, when you start trying to push high Hp numbers the PMR's can be a big weak point. But you should be good if your only planning on 450ish numbers. Any more then forged rods will be necessary.
I did look at riffraff parts and I have ordered some of the part I need for the build and after talking to the guys over there I'm doing a chip set up so he can have the shift on the fly and more tunes then he can use lol has any one used the GTP38R for snow plowing and how does that run for you ? Thanks everyone
Stage 2's with a sxe 64.5 turbo on a t4 mount and supporting mods like head studs, valve springs, regulated return, chromoly push rods, and of course good tunes or lived tuned would be best and you will have a great tow setup.
