It happened again...
I hooked up to my camper and pulled it to Charleston SC and back, 860 miles round trip without a single problem. Ended up at 10.1 MPG for the trip. The new "D" load tires on the camper made a huge difference, I could cruise at 65-70 without that squirrely feeling. All in all a good trip.

Mine is 12' 11" tall, 38' 10" and 12,000lbs with the permanent stuff I carry. I was running pretty light for the weekend so I wouldn't guess over 13,000lbs. I averaged 10.4 on the way down. I had a little tailwind on the way back and was seeing 11.2. It showed 10.7 for the trip when I unhooked. My computer has been pretty accurate every time I calculate fuel. I try to keep my speed at about 62. It's not too hilly form here to OKC so I run the cruise control and it never downshifts once I hit I-35. The only time I stop is to go through the toll booth.

If you want to see how bad it can get, try the run from OKC to Amarillo. Headwinds and altitude gain are a killer. I dropped from my average of 10 down to 6 mpg in my previous truck.

Do you guys notice regens while towing?
Last summer I kept a close eye on the mpg and never noticed a regen during an 1100 mile trip towing about 11k.
People told me it did it without me noticing, but I have noticed every other regen when not towing heavy. I notice it when towing the boat.

I have seen the occasional regen while towing, but nearly as much as without towing.

I did not regen on the way there, I did however watch the soot% steadily go down while towing. When I started to drive around without the camper for the first time, it instantly went into regen for about 10 miles. then about half way home it did a full regen. I'm all but sure there are two different parameters for this, one being miles, and one being soot level. I believe only soot level will give you the drive to clean exhaust message, which I have never gotten.

It would be nice to know what PID other than soot gpl that Ford uses. I've regenned every 500 miles all winter with soot gpl usually not getting above 2.30 when it did it at 3.50 gpl last summer.
