EGR delete

I purchased a 2008 F350 with 78,000 miles and blew the engine on the way home towing a 10,000 lb Airstream. With the new remanded 6.4 power stroke I ordered the kit for my mechanic to delete the EGR. am I on the right track to recovery?

By the way this is my 2nd diesel. Last one was a 2011 GMC Duramax with only factory settings.

Sounds like it. I have seen a lot of deleted and bulletproofed 6.0s and 6.4s lately, they are very good engines once you get the EPA out of it.

Thank you Ford 6! I'm a little gun shy on Ford Diesel engines after an engine failure on the road

just to clairfy...you bought a used truck...and on the way home from that purchase with that truck you towed a 10000lb trailer and blew the engine. thats what your opening comments were.

if so, I would ask if you changed all the fluids, filters, etc. the 6.4 has a tendency to thin out oil with fuel as part of the regen process so odds are old oil is diluted. Cooling system could have 7 year old coolant and the cap might not hold pressure. when you were driving before the two, did it regen alot...any indication your CAT and DPF is clogged. What about the oil cooler....is that clogged. in other words...there is a root cuase to the engine failure that still needs to be found.
