If only I would have seen that a few years ago I wouldn't have to do any work to my truck to have a crew cab. but if I did get one that long I would have needed as airplane hangar to park it in, and 20 gallons of paint to cover that behemoth!!
Well only in Texas I suppose but we have every length of truck you can imagine. I have seen crew cabs with the supercab too, 6 doors 8 doors and some way long stretch limo duallys, all newer of course. I think a 67-72 4 door on a 1/2 ton frame would be a great driver. I don't know about the whittled up "sport-trac" type bed tho. Maybe if you could tastfully take out a little down to maybe 6 feet, but I think the older pickup will look strange with the tires right behind the cab.
you have a good point there willowbilly, however I did get the idea from seeing it done in drawing in Scale Auto Enthusiast magazine, and it was done on a 67-72 piece of shhhhhevy. :>

Why don't they make that kit??? I'd build 10 of 'em or more. one for every idea. Once had a model of my '66 Stang built to match.
I have seen 1/25th AMT ERTL kits of 73-79 trucks tho.
mk "mike" is the model expert. You're right, no models of our year trucks if I remember right. We talked about this long ago before the software conversions, don't know if the search can find 'em.
the closest thing I have seen is the 73-79 bodied trucks, find them on ebay not to frequently around $50-$60 or more.
I would get one and "RESKIN" it but I have a problem chopping up a kit that rare.
that is why I love paintshop pro and photo studio. I can do any mods I like and if they don't turn out the way I like, just click undo and BLAM that mistake is gone.
I have a buddy around the corner from me that grafted the back end of a super cab (the little rear windows and rear cab/glass) onto the back of a early 70's crew cab. Three seats and a short bed 4X4 - looks very nice.
Yea, this guy builds these things here in Spokane. He has a couple Crews he's working on. And he drives an absolutly Badarse 79 longbed Supercab, jacked up with 38's and a sticker on the back window that says "real trucks rattle" had to laugh on that one. So true. I'll see what i can do. 460 Crew, your ride is comming along very nicely. Can't wait to see it finished.
Ya I 'd like to see it done also. It's al the little details slowing up progress. How did your shackle lift turn out? I just can't belive you turned to the Dark side Ch#$% engine. Your truck is looking good also is it complete or are you still adding on? Good thing I'm not the only one with a 15g total on my crew and still not done. every time I get on here i get another hair up my you know what to get something else or upgrade this. It's killing my wife and I's relationship!
I know, I know- I actually went to the dark side in frustration after blowing up my 300-6, that and a buddy had a corvette 427 in a 65' longbox that would run the quarter over 100mph. Said he would build me one cheap. The 15 gal tank is a trick I use at the gas pump, I'd rather spend 20 bucks 10 times than shell out 100 bucks 2 times. I keep promising myself that I am going to quit spending money on it. (I have a '56 f100 that needs attention) but something always comes up, I still have to build a winch bumper and install the shackle lift. I feel like it's never gonna get done. I actually have two car shows that I am going to put it in this september. Should be fun, it not perfect, but heck it is my daily driver.
At least yours is running, I have this 460 just sitting out there waiting to purr but there is all these little things and that darn thing called work for 8-10 hrs a day. I might just take a week vacation when the weather is perfect and get her done, then work on the upgrading. I found a D44 disk for it and I'll put that on when I have money for lockers in the front and rear and money to get my 78-79 steering box redone with hydraulic fittings in it for the assist ram. Also in the plans is a 4in suspensioin lift and a winch ,all in good time. also my daily driver once I get rid of my current car and payment...and no jokes yes a car but it is a Volvo affiliated with ford.
