My old '88 would use a Qt of 10W-40 in 3000 miles. That was typical and acceptable. Since t hen I haven't had a Ford that used more than 1/2 qt in 5000 miles and that usage was typically during the high heat of the summer with the A/C running, etc.

I think I'd visit my dealer and get this on record.

Keep in mind you may or may not get anywhere with this. Every OEM specifies what is considered normal for their engines, and anything less than that is operating as designed. I don't have the shop manual for the new F150s, but that used to be 1 quart every 900 miles.

I would recommend checking the oil level after the 5.0 engine has been off overnight. It does seem to take a moment to drain and the dipstick is somewhat finicky as well.

I would be concerned about the catylitic converter if that much oil was being used. I haven't bought a new vehicle that ever used that much oil.
