i have had the cluster out once, it was a pain. I have another cluster with a tach to put in, just haven't wanted to deal with the pain of pulling it again. Bought the tach cluster 3-4 months ago, just haven't gotten up the gumption to take the dash apart.
Shift stacking when it goes 1-2-3 right after each other and your in 3rd at 20m/h (for example) and the thing is gutless.
What causes this?
A frequent cause of this is the PCM thinking the transfer case is in 4x4 low. There is a pin on the PCM that detects this. I forget (it's been many years) whether it looks for a ground or +12v in this circuit to indicate that it is in 4x4L.
after driving it yesterday, it is not shifting as fast as I thought, but the issue is with it being gutless in O/D. I am guessing 31 in tires and 3.31 gears are causing this.

Correction: 302 engine, 31 inch tires and 3.31 gears are causing the gutless operation in O/D.
