Interior Question
I'm about ready to add a home made storage rack I made out of Lexan on the back wall of my 2016 F-150 Regular Cab. I have a question about the sound reduction fiber and insulation board that is installed on the truck. It has a bump out and opening at the bottom about an 1 1/2" high running from behind the jack to about midway to behind the driver seat. Automotive engineers don't usually add such openings for no reason. I'll be covering this up and may need to trim some of the insulation board back to smooth out the area. Anyone out there have any idea what this was for? I can't find any option or accessory that would use this opening. Reaching back in the opening you feel the metal wall of the cab. Any input would be appreciated.
