Real Dumb 53' Question
I have noticed that my 53' grille has teeth. Is that the anniv. edition? I havent seen them on other 53. Any explaination? There are also boomerangs on the side of the hood around the f-100 letters.

What you have is the 5 star cab option. In 1955 and later was called the custom cab option.
Your truck should also have the following:
Locking glove box
Door panels
arm rests
chrome vent window frames
bright drip rail molding
dash trim that extends to both doors
5" foam cushion seat
Full cab headliner ( covers the area behind the seat too)
There maybe more but this should help,

I say this with less confidence than usual because I may very well be wrong. I believe the grill teeth are actually part of the 53 Deluxe cab option. I think the 5 Star designation is actually the upgrade cab for a different year. I'm sure I'll be corrected soon if I'm wrong.

I think door locks on both doors was part of this "deluxe" option whatever it was called.
There was also a slick horn button in '53 that said "50th Anniversary Of Ford Motor Company" or something to that effect.
This horn button as well as hood boomerangs and grille teeth are available in excellent quality reproductions from Bob Drake Reproductions.

I stand corrected! The 5 star cab option was only for the 1952 model trucks and earlier.
In 1953 and 1954 this option was called the deluxe cab option.
Then in 1955 and up models the option was the custom cab, which also come with the door emblems.
Info was found in the Light Duty Standard Catalog of American Trucks.
