Question Bosch Platinum 2???

I have read quite a few post saying that people don't like the bosch plat 2. Are they ok to use in my 95 Explorer w/ 4.0L standard V6, 4X4? If not why not, or are people just die hard ford / motorcraft guys.

Bosch Platinum 2???

Welcome to FE!!!

With Ford's EDIS, use only Motorcraft double platinums, due to
the spark polarity being opposite for the plugs in each bank.
Bosch is a great plug, that's all I use in my gasoline Mercedes, but
I will only use Motorcraft in my little Ranger....Autolite double
platinums will run well also, both Motorcraft and Autolite are
made by Honeywell....

Bosch Platinum 2???

I just bought a 97 Explorer AWD V8 and changed the plug wires and plugs. Looks like the previous owner had just changed the plugs..he was using the Motorcraft plugs. I changed them out with the Bosh Platinum +4, I have to say it runs alot smoother especially at the 3,000 RPM and above range.

You would have probably gotten the same results, or better by
keeping the Motorcrafts, and just changing the wires.

Probably so, now you got me contemplating on swapping them back out just for grins. The motorcraft plugs looked pretty new.

Running the +2's for about 4,000 miles and they seem just fine. The thing I was looking for when I purchased them is not having to gap (or replace) them.

I don't change a plug - not even in my lawnmower - without checking the gap on each plug. I odn't know of a spark plug that is made where the gap can't be changed, bumped, or knocked that it could not be wrong. A gap tool is usually right next to the register at any parts house, and usually costs less than a dollar. I don't recommend buying plugs and not checking the gap...

You can't gap Bosch +4s the way the 4 gnd electrodes are placed around the center electrode.

Bosch Platinum 2???

I agree with setting the gap on any plug I have bought before. They are soft metal, not protected during shipment, and are suposed to be set before installed.
The Bosch Platinum's come with a factory pre-set gap. This is based on the use of the plug. In the carton the electrod is protected for shipment. The gap is not like other plugs. I use 'em and I like 'em. I like new and good ideas, that work.

I don't know why someone wouldn't gap the plugs, hoe do they know what to gap them to? Plus I particularly hate Bosch becuase the places like Autozone, Pep Boys, and other places like them try to push Bosch onto you bcuz they get a commison for every sale of their products. I only run Splitfires on my Ranger
