Hello everyone I have a 2012 Ford F 150 crew cab 4x 4 and have a problem it squeals in reverse. brakes too and it's only in reverse and it's only for a short period of time as soon as I come to a complete stop anyone have any suggestions
Mine does the same thing. Except, I wouldn't call it a squeal. I'd call it a tug boat air horn. LOL. It sounds like a triple-axle dump truck backing out of my driveway at 6:30 every morning. VERY embarrassing and I'm sure the neighbors just love it. It only does it when cold first thing in the morning in reverse. Doesn't do it going forward at all. I believe it has something to do with the parking/emergency brake setup in the rear.
I agree with AZPete. Mine didn't make any noise at all until I was on a ranch in south Texas. See my signature photo. Lots of dust. Add a little moisture from rain = squeals.

Mine only does it when i back up as im applying the brake to stop. At all times of the day. We dont have dirt roads in metro phoenix. Any ides how to fix it
Try rinsing the discs and pads with clean water...let dry good and test for sqeal. Thirty five years in Az, Phx, Tucson and Safford..plenty of dusty paved roads.
Sometimes just the material used in the brake pads from the factory cause noise due to the hardness. Softer brakes are more quiet.
Had squeal issue on my daughter's Altima, removed and saw both front rotors showing grinding surface yet the pads are still at 75%, replaced the rotors and pads, now it's quiet again. Maybe that's what you would want to check on the condition of both rotors.
