Vin Decoding
I am new to FTE but I have always owned an F150/250. I am looking to buy a 1965/1966 F100 with a 3 speed manual. I was fortunate to find but haven't bought yet a truck with an overdrive. Is there something in the VIN that will indicate that the truck came with an overdrive? I found in the service manuals they did sell a few with this option but I wanted to know how that was displayed in the VIN. Any help is appreciated.

They are not in the VIN, it's located on the warranty plate. The code is B for the three speed overdrive.

Thanks for the reply. That is what I thought but was also told that the B in the code was 61-65 and did not include 66. I trust you so I'm going with the that when I look at the truck.

What is the Vin so we can determine correct year?

B is the correct warranty plate code for 1966 F100s with 3 speed manual overdrive transmissions. Whoever told you it isn't is mistaken.

I will get the vin and check the plate Monday. Thanks for the feedback and help. I will let you know if I purchase the truck as well.
