2003 F150 4X4 XL Ex.cab help please
I hope there is an easy solution to this besides replacing the instrument cluster.
Problem is my truck just failed smog inspection(California). You'll never guess why in a million years I promise, totally floored me. Here it is, I failed because the service engine light is not coming on when you turn the key to the ON position. This has got to be a new one. Anyway so after a little bit of panic I thought that it could be something as simple as a bulb in the instrument cluster, well it is kind of, SMD LED. Can you believe it? Does anyone have any experience with this? I've also noticed that there are 2 or 3 other LED's on that side of the cluster that are not lighting up either. Am I hosed? Throw the truck away? I would love to do a board level repair on this because I'm pretty good with a soldering iron and electronics in general. These LED's are unlike anything I have ever seen before. What do you guys think?
Thanks!!!!

If your sure there are other LEDs not lighting, a board or connector issue is likely.
Work on it to at least give yourself a possibility of repair.
You know better than to ask for an easy repair because there is only one and that's to do it or replace the display.
You don't give up a truck for a dash display issue.
Good luck.
