While I have routinely seen a little fluid seep from the bottom/back of a Rear Diff, I have never seen it from the front where the drive shaft enters.....until I looked under my '12 F150 yesterday. Have any of you had this problem on your truck? It is at 86,000 miles. Mostly highway, with some 3000lb towing on weekends. Any ideas on time I may have until failure? Cost to fix estimates? I appreciate any and all feedback.
Pinion seal. It can seep for years or it can start leaking tomorrow. Now that you know about it, check your fluid and keep an eye on it until you can have it fixed.
Had the same thing happen on mine. I also had them fix a "click when putting the truck in gear" issue. I'm not sure on pricing, as mine was covered under warranty. Here is the link to the thread. I posted the invoice that has parts numbers as well, just know they replaced additional parts for the "clicking" issue, so probably more items than you will need if just the pinion seal: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-e-locker.html

Hi Craig,
I know your local Ford Dealership will be happy to provide an estimate. Once they've diagnosed your truck, let me know; I'll see what I can do to help out.
