Could it be time?

Been following the Degass bottle at 20 PSI thread. I put a 30 PSI gauge tee'd to the Degass bottle a month ago because the truck was puking. I replaced the cap with a new Ford cap and watched as pressure would slowly climb to 16/17 PSI and stay there. Then the hose between the EGR delete and the oil cooler decided to become the new pressure relief valve. It lets go at 12/13 PSI, so a new hose is coming from XDP.

My thoughts are, is it time to look at the head gaskets? EGR was deleted so its not the cooler. Pressure comes up slowly to 16/17 PSI then either the cap or the hose lets go. Thermostat was replaced with new Ford 195 less than 6 months ago, same for the water pump and fan belt.

Edge CTS reads 188 to 192 water temp, oil at 195 to 200 under normal driving not towing. If I'm pulling a trailer or climbing a 9 degree hill to some land water goes to 210/235 and oil 215/235 at which time the fan kicks in and screams till temps drop to 200.

Anything else to look at?

once its at temp, CAREFULLY relieve pressure thru the cap and then drive it some more. If the pressure then comes back strong, I'd consider it. There is always pressure build-up with heat... why you need to make sure its at temp... and then I wouldn't be trying any hills, just drive around some trying to not heat it up significantly above normal operating temp.

I tried the relieve pressure after it was at operating temp and tightening the cap, the pressure slowly comes back enough to relieve itself at the EGR hose 11/14 PSI on mostly level ground. This is why I'm thinking slow leak past head gaskets.

Just looking for anything else I can try before HG's.

Once the EGR is deleted, which yours is by your signature, there is only one way for coolant to enter, the headgasket. It should not build any pressure after its been relieved, as long as it maintains the same temperature, which caused the pressure to begin with. But with an appreciable temp change, pressure should go up with the increase. Since you made sure to vent the cap, drive as not to increase coolant temp, it could only build pressure with a leak.

I was afraid that would be the thought. I figure that while I was replacing that little EGR hose and alt with a LN 230 amp might as well save up for the rest of it and wait a month or two and do it all.

Hey Shaneb75 can I borrow you and some tools.LOL
