Started this topic in Apoc's thread so transferring over here because I have questions.
Trying to enable the auto lock feature so when I start driving the doors automatically all lock. I have the 5 digit code and followed Apoc's instructions of entering code, holding 7/8, pressing 3/4 and releasing 7/8. Did not work.
When I enter the code just on it's own it will unlock the door however when I enter the code just on it's own it will not lock the door. I do hear it doing something but just does not lock it. I also tried the ignition method. No luck there either. Horn never chirps. Tried it with the wipers on too just in case. Is there something wrong with the actuator possibly?
Someone mentioned that the '01 may not even have the feature.
Pressing 7/8 and 9/0 simultaneously will LOCK all doors, no need for the 5 digits.
Matt showed me this in person when I went to visit him and Razzi in Houston and I have used it every day since. I show everyone I know the "trick" and hope that eventually it's just a known thing Thanks again Matt
You can also re-program your 5 digit code if you so desire.
Indeed, I like forged rods... They'll come in handy in the future
Actually you cannot reprogram the 5 digit code. You can add a user/owner code in addition to the existing code, but you cannot replace the original code with your own.

Then I was misinformed by the dealer. I chose not to add a "user" code.
Using the matrix to find my code way back when, I found one. Out of curiosity I kept going and found a second one. Later I verified the code when I swapped my stereo out, and it matched the first one I found.
IIRC, you can reprogram the user code but not the OEM one.
I thought this was common knowledge back in the early 90's when I used this on my Cougar (or was it my Crown Vic...dang this CRS).

The sticker with the code on it used to be in the trunk. I showed a friend. A short time after that he was helping his inlaws unload groceries from their new Ford trunk and he noticed the sticker, told them that Ford used the same number for all keyless entry codes and unlocked their doors. They were shocked thinking that anyone with keyless entry could get in their car, then he told them the truth. Gotta love it.
I can say with almost no doubt that the keyless code sticker on my 2000 is not there. I plan on getting it using the string of numbers and hopefully get the Auto door locks working by following any instructions in this thread

Of course not, Excursions don't have trunks!
Vwags and I were talking about early '90's Ford cars, not Excursions.

Let us know if you get it to work. Then I can pretty much figure my 2001 is busted. Would the vin say if it had autolocks? I feel like vins are a bit generic in the info they provide. Mine said had 3.73 gears but in fact has 4.30s remember..
