Replacement tires

I've 20K on the factory tires which have have not done well. According to the dealer, the tires are wearing oddly and causing a pull to one side. I don't have any specific complaints about the ride other than I can feel the pull. The truck is not used off-road but more like a luxury sedan. Can anyone tell me about their experiences with replacement tires?

Factory tires never last long. Our last 2-3 trucks we've put on Goodyear Wrangle Armortrac. They have lasted 30,000+ miles on one truck so far. They are not mud hooks, but a compromise between road and off-road. They are classed all weather.

The Wrangler highway tires that came as factory equipment on my FX4 look like they have way more than the 5k miles that are on them.

I doubt I'll keep them much longer. I'm looking at various tires in 275/70/18 right now. BFG AT2 are on top of the list now. I've been happy with Bridgestone Dueler Revos though too.

Interesting about the odd wear. I only have 8,000 miles on mine, but they seem to be wearing evenly.

I haven't seen a problem with factory tires in previous generation trucks. My dad just replaced the factory Wrangler SR-As on his '10 F150 after 43,000 miles. He never rotated them, and they were close to the wear bars but still legal. At the rate they're going I'm not worried about seeing 30,000+ miles on my factory meats.

I also never have had any wear related issues with any tires that came with my vehicles. Lots of performance issues, but never wear related. As for replacements, tell us what you're looking for other than higher wear resistance.

I've always had good luck with the factory installed tires. My 2012 F150 came with GoodYear Wrangler SRAs. They are an uninspiring tire and leave a little to be desired when towing heavy but they get the job done. Now I have GoodYear Wrangler Adventure with Kevlar. I'm very happy with this tire, it is my new go to tire.

I replaced my factory Hankooks after 50K and the still had 5/32's of tread all around. Great wear, great ride but otherwise, a POS tire. I mounted the BFG Rugged Terrains and I'm very happy with my choice especially after this past winter. Very good in the snow and excellent in heavy rain. They did stiffen the ride and they have a slight hum to them.

I had Rugged Terrains on my 2006 F250. Very nice all weather tire. Mine were quiet for the first 25-30k and then developed a hum.

Had over 40k on them when I traded the truck in and possibly half tread left.

When the Goodyears on my 2016 wear out it will either be Rugged Terrains or BFG TA/KO2s for me

Just over 80,000 miles on the factory Michelins on my 2012. 1.5mm to the wear bars.

Michelin tires have great life. I've had a couple sets of LTX M/S2s that still looked good around 80,000 miles. My only issue with them was on the farm they would plug up with mud/dirt too fast. I guess since we sold the farm that's not an issue any more.

Tim,
What size tires are you using? I just checked on BFG tires, and they don't make a 275/65R18 tire, so you must have a different rim size or different profile?

I purposely bought a truck with 17" rims to avoid the chrome package so I'm running 265-17-70.

Ah. There you go. I'm finding the pickings slim in my size.
