E Fuel need help
#16
Bill, one of the concepts that I'm trying to understand is the idea of "all that fuel." I don't think we're burning a tenth of a gpm of fuel, hardly much flow and there shouldn't be enough velocity to create much of a pressure drop at all. That may be a tiny hole, but the required flow is pretty tiny too.
I'm new here and not trying to start a pi****g contest, just want to understand this.

I did not use standard fittings tho as shipped. All orifices were ported so maybe that's helping. Idk

Not saying that flow doesn't drop off at WOT or even medium throttle. I'm just not convinced that it's pressure drop through the fittings that causes it. I think it may be more like just not enough capacity pump (pump can't supply the demand even if there was no pressure loss in the fittings). The stock pumps don't know if the truck is accelerating and needing more fuel, or cruising at a steady RPM, they just plug along at their rated output.
I'm as guilty as anyone in making assumptions and not backing them up with any real test measurements. I'd sure like to see some real measurements taken before and after fittings and fuel lines were upgraded. I have the same plan to do some tests with before and after exhaust system mods, but I've had those plans for two years now and haven't done anything.

Well guys I still don't have a fuel pressure guage but I'm pretty sure my pump is taking a crap pressure was little low last time I checked it but anyway I'm wanting to either run the Bosch 044 or walbro pump but I'm still running stock pickup and I saw the irate efuel kit comes with a draw straw but anyway what I was getting at is that should I go ahead and get a draw straw or a sump I'm wanting everything to look nice and clean also I'm pretty sure my factory pick up fell off as my truck starts to run out of fuel at 1/4 tank thanks guys for the help In advance

Here's a link to the hutch mod to possibly fix your problem running out of fuel at a quarter tank. The little shower head thingy may have fallen off your pick up tube.
Welcome to guzzle's In-tank Hutch Mod Web Page
As far as the pressure issue; how are you adjusting the pressure on the regulated return from the front of the cylinder heads? Reading through this thread I don't see that addressed.

Got it. Just did some reading on the tightwad mod, pretty cool. I would double check your fuel lines to ensure there are no points where it is being squeezed enough to restrict flow, and drain some fuel from the first filter in line from the fuel tank. Wish I could be of more help. Hopefully someone else with this mod can help you out.
