3" rear blocks

Who has installed 3" blocks in the rear and what was your experience?

I've been working out of town for a few months and have scraped up a little extra money. With that said, I would like to add a leveling kit and rear blocks to my truck when I get home. I'm aware that adding blocks will increase axle wrap when accelerating hard, but I rarely tow and really don't beat on my truck that often.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Q.

I have the 2" leveling spacers on the front and 3" blocks on rear. I am not experiencing any issues with axle wrap and I have towed with this combination.

What size are the factory rear blocks for the 4x4?

Put them on my 2009 myself. No problems, either with the install or function.

But neither did I ever launch/stop hard with my 33" Terra Grapplers, nor with a massive trailer behind it.

Unless you're putting down some serious instantaneous horsepower, short gears, and massive traction and/or tow, I doubt you would experience axle-wrap issues with 3" blocks and otherwise a stock performing truck. And with near-stock size tires, most likely your tires will lose traction first before axle-wrap becomes a concern, especially with an unladen bed.

I believe they are 1 1/2" blocks on the 4x4.

Thanks for all the info.... I would consider my truck to be underpowered so i'm sure I won't have much of an issue and as my wife say "I drive like an old man"

Do either of you remember what brand/where you got them from/ how much you paid for them?

Stock blocks are 1-1/4". I just measured mine to verify.

I bought the ReadyLift 3" Rear Block Kit from Jack-It for $135 shipped back in 2011.

Got mine from ebay. Cast Iron Rear 3" Lift Kit for Mark Lt F150 04 14 4WD Free Shipping | eBay I paid $70.00 for them at the time. There are also some others listed. I chose to stay with the OEM cast iron design.
P.S. I don't drive like an old man , even though I am middle aged.

I wasn't focusing on the blocks when I took this pic, but you can see the right one in the far right of the photo.

The "wings" maintain bump stop functionality in the event of bottoming out the back-end...

I was wondering what those "wings" were for, and now it all makes sense. It looks like you used the factory blocks and the aftermarket 3" blocks. is that what I am seeing or are the "3"" blocks really 1 3/4" to make a combined total of 3"?

I don't drive like an old man either, just a little more reasonable compared to my wife!

Well this is what I have in mind for my truck when I get home. I'm still going to look at other steel leveling spacers because the one I have looked at doesn't say what kind of hardware they use.

what do ya'll think?

So you're going to raise the front 2" and the back 1.75"? You're going to maintain quite a bit of rake in that instance.

How much rake do you currently have? Have you measured that out?

No, I didn't use the original by stacking; I took the Ford 1-1/2" spacers out and swapped in the aftermarkets, so the net lift was about 1-1/2" over stock using the aftermarket 3" tall block.

What you see underneath the new block is the axle mounting pad that's welded to the axle tube itself.

I'd leave back alone and go 2.5" level which will put it pretty much spot on level maybe a tad higher in back, unless you want the rear high look for whatever reasons.
