Progress....

Ok thanks to good weather and my first free day in months I was able to make progress on the engine work for my truck. While I was in the garage working on the engine a package arrived that I thought you guys would get a kick out of.

Yes it is an N.O.S. radiator for the 40/41 big Tonner trucks still in the original box but not only, that this one is the larger core version for better cooling. Happy to have this for sure. I will save the old one for just in case.

Mark

The old Ford manufacturing building just north of downtown Omaha. It has been converted to loft apartnents. Signature water tower still shows Ford name.

I live in Lincoln NE and go by the old Ford building quite often when in Omaha. My daughter lived in one of the lofts in the building for about a year and a half and we learned more about the building when visiting her. Assembly of vehicles would start on the top floor and continue down floor by floor until they were driven off the assembly line on the first floor. Quite an interesting process. Designers of the lofts left much of the interior of the old building still visible when inside. Pictures of the production line are displayed in the hallways. We even enjoyed the annual City of Omaha 4th of July fireworks show from the roof and sat just under the old water tank. Such a great time!

Ford plant in Denver

Long time ago when I was into Model T's I had found some original photos of the plant back in the day and then took some photos my self in those locations.
Here are some.

Great pics! Amazing how similar the Denver and Omaha buildings appear to be.

John Graham from Seattle was the architect of the factories . There was also a Model T factory there.

White66,

Whadda mean "when I was into Model T's"? Lol. I have a '20 open express (pick-up truck) and a '22 Centerdoor. I know all about those things but I'm a rookie with the flatheads! Hydraulic brakes, water pumps, fuel pumps, oil pumps, distributers and steel wheels are all "new" to me!

Good luck with the swap!

Not to mention 4 wheel brakes and sliding gear transmissions. Pretty new fangled, huh?

Yes they are. They are just too complicated. I can see why Henry wasn't fond of the Model A- there's too many parts on these "newer" vehicles, lol!

Model T's again

Well I just got a call on Sunday, the son of my old friend who passed in 06 in his late 80's wants me to have his grandfathers 1917 roadster p/u. This thing is un-restored and I had my eye on it since the early 80's. Going to have a look this Friday, who knows, model T's again.

You know what they say- "their only original once". I love seeing the unrestored ones! Let us know if it follows you home.
