In my F150 single cab, with non-adjustable steering column and the seat all the way back, my line of sight for the high beam indicator is completely blocked. I either have to stretch up or peer under the steering wheel to see it.
I have thought about mounting a small indicator light elsewhere, but it occurred to me that in the dash gauge cluster is an unused light for 4X4 and I wondered if I might just install a jumper wire from the high beam indicator to the 4X4 light?
I don't see why not... I will have to start suggesting this when people ask how difficult it is to convert to 4x4! One wire, cheapest solution ever
...but seriously, I have the same problem seeing the row of lights above the cluster. The two most visible ones are the far right and left lights and it makes perfect sense to make use of the 4x4 spot since you don't need it . Either that or convert to a tilt column
I am thinking the 4x4 lamp is one of the ones that stays in the dash when you pull the cluster out. On non-4x4 trucks it is just a blank hole, so you would just need to hook up a 2 wire pig tail.
I had the opposite problem; the high beam light is too bright for my liking. I put electrical tape over the "high beam" part and just left the high beam icon exposed.
