This is partially correct. The way Ford does it is they fill dealer stock first before allowing retail custom orders. However, any dealer worth his salt can easily circumvent this by placing a low priority "stock" vehicle order and have it filled as soon as they start building them. It's backwards in the beginning as low priority actually gets built before sold units...
So, bottom line is the initial builds will be available to the general public but as dealer stock units. Special orders will start being built after the dealer lots have their units.
