The truck in question is a 75 F250 single cab long bed.
How heavy is the cab and bed on these trucks? Is a lift truly needed or can 4 strapping men at each corner handle it? Perhaps 3 men on one side and a cherry picker at the other.
The truck doesn't have much rust at all but I am wanting to pull the cab and bed off, rust proof the bottoms of them and coat the frame as well.
Some were on here is the exact weights thanks to mikeo0o0o0, because he had them off and weighed them. Bed weight of 472 lbs comes to mind?
Yes 4 big guys can man handle it, or 2 with one running the cherry picker and rigged right. Have a solid surface to roll it on though. And be more careful with the cab, great way to get hurt. It can be difficult to rig for a cherry picker, but doable.
Shapie mark the door hinges and leave them on the cab, mark and pull the doors. You can also cherry picker the complete front clip minus the hood.
No big deal, you do know they have been right here the whole time with a few more ideas.? No matter how you do it, just rig and lift safe.
1 guy can straight lift one side of the bed, while the other gets some saw horses and pipe under it and then pull the truck out from underneath.
Stand on the bed bolts while the other guy uses the impact to break them loose. If the carriage bolt gets pushed up you can strip the square carriage bolt hole in the bed with a hot rod impact.
Wow the pics are awesome. Gotta lift a '63 cab off a donor truck this summer and this gives me ideas. I probably will not have help so have to make due with what's possible
Yeah, cherry pickers are nice, glad I finally got one. Going to use it this week to put the beam onto my gantry crane. Like Rich's pics, there a lot better than mine LOL.
That flat deck probably didn't do that cherry picker any favors I bet. I've bent mine already but it may not have been meant to be used as a cantilever crane, LOL
