I was wondering if anyone had any idea of the weight of a cab and bed on a 77 f100 styleside truck. It seems that it would be very easy to unbolt them especally the bed but I was trying to decide if 2 people could pick them up. I would take off the easy to remove parts like the tailgate and doors and windows. Another thought, if I get the cab off can I turn it upside down to work on the floor pan or will that cause roof damage. It seems that I could replace the floor pan in a few hours from the bottom if I was looking down at it.
a bed can be done with 2 people, but its gonna be rough. they need to be strong people. it's mostly a matter of being awqward (spelling) than anything. the cab can be put on any side except for the roof. the most stable i've found is putting it on its front. don't bother removing the glass, the rear window weighs almost nothing and the front is more trouble than its worth. i will recomend that you mark where the door hinges are at and remove the doors from the cab. this will help alot.
If you have an engine hoist you can remove the bed yourself, I've done it a few times. Otherwise I agree, 4 people is probably best, 3 minimum due to its size.
three people cuz they are awkward!! the cab needs 4 or 5, depending on strength and the distance its being moved and how much room around you to work with.. laying the cab on its back seems to be really stable for working on the floor pan... block it with tires or something if you're gonne put it right side up so you dont mash the corners...
bed about 350 lbs, cab -doors about 550 lbs w/o air with air add 75 lbs 3 guys struggle with a box because of its awkwardness 4 it's a breeze. I've done cabs with 4 but 6 is easier (them highboy frames are tall)
