dash lights

Last night while pulling a trailer my dash lights went out, headlights working.
About 50 miles later they came on very dimly. When I turned the headlights off the whole dashboard lit up normally. This morning they are working. Any suggestions as to what is going on. 2014 XLT 55K miles.
Thanks

First thing I would do is make sure the charging system is up to snuff. After that I would start looking at connections.

Did you try the dimmer adjustment?

What you're describing sounds to me like what would happen if dimmer is set to a low setting and headlights were in Auto.

The battery and charging system check good. The dashboard lights up when the lights are off. The dimmer sw. may be the culprit. If I try to hold it down till courtesy lights come on it won't work, if I just bump it up slowly the dash lights come on.
Thanks for the input.

Hi stvneil,

Let us know if you track down the source of this issue. If you run into any obstacles, you can always swing by your local Ford Dealership so they can diagnose. If you need any help after your appointment, just say the word.
