Is there any way to adjust the sensitivity which triggers the auto on lights? These things literally come on when a cloud blocks the sun. The biggest issue is the lights in the dash go to night mode. I like interior lights dim at night, so when it happens during daylight, I cant see anything very well.
After 14 months with the truck I had this happen. Had lights on auto and late in the afternoon the weather changed and I needed the lights on and they were still off. Turned the headlights on with the switch and the dash area went to a screen that indicated the word dimming with a timer bar below the word. Since then the lights come on a litter earlier than they were lighting.
I would think this would also work for setting the headlights later, if that was the need. The truck seems to want to learn the drivers needs.
This was the only time this screen has shown in 14 months.
That screen sounds like the exact one you get when hitting the dimmer buttons next to the headlight switch. It is for dimming the dash lights. It sounds like jackfordsd350 hit it by error.
Also, in case you don't know, the centerstack 8" screen can have its dimming brightness adjusted independently of the other dash lights. You can set both day and night brightness. Go to display, select DAY, then adjust the Day brightness. Next, select NIGHT, then adjust your night brightness. After that is done, you can set it back to AUTO and it will automatically go to those brightness levels during day and night.
