I was looking for a stabilizing system for my Gateway 3200RS fifth wheel.
Looked at all the options and opinions that were available on line and came up with the Steadyfast Stabilizing system. Watching videos and I felt comfortable with what I saw, I bought it yesterday and will be delivered in a week. $269 covers front and back stabilization, and shipping is included. This was directly from the Manufacturer and I have to say very pleasant and went through everything in detail. Also when I install it they said they would be available for any and all questions. I like working with smaller companies.
I will post with pictures when I do the instillation.
It should go a long way to steady your rig but the one thing you can't get rid of is the small movement that you will have in the front jacks were the square tubs run inside of each other. If you have the the scissor leveling jacks in the rear it will be like night and day after you install the system, scissor jack are for leveling but do nothing for stabilizing your rig.
My son and I installed the Steadyfast system yesterday. Sorry I don't have pictures, my camera's battery was out. I will try to get some on the weekend.
Install: I have to admit reading the instructions were a little bit of work. Going back and forth reading to pictures. Then repeating the process. Best advice is to layout all parts on the ground to where they will be installed, then start from there.
We started in the front by assembling all the parts that went on the foot then attached the foot to the jack. There are two sets of bars. First one goes across the front of the trailer and second one that runs along the side I beam. Drilling the holes I bought Titanium drills. First a starter hole 3/16 and then a 17/64. Make sure they are sharp. then 5/16-18 tap. They supply you with grade 5 self tapping screws. We found it the be easier to use a regular tap.
In the back took off the foot pad and attached the foot pad to the new foot and put together the foot as in the front and mounted it across to the other side of the trailer.
As for the system: Unbelievable, I can't stress how great it is. When the wing nuts are loose the front will move about 7 inches. Then you tighten the wing nut and it won't move, solid no play. And that is without a system in the back of the trailer.
The back when loose moves about 12 inches (Loose in the front). Tighten the back wing nuts and it reduces to about 4 inches. When all 3 wing nuts are tighten movement is about 1 inch in the back.
Time spent was about 2 1/2 hours total. Sharp drills and tap made it easy.
I got Steadyfast 3 years ago. The fronts worked so well that I haven't done the rear yet. Owner was available to answer my questions. I do remember a little frustration with the instructions, but it wasn't too bad. I am still a happy camper and highly recommend the system.
I just leave the wingnuts loose during travel as they are designed not to come off. You do need to remember to loosen wingnuts prior to raising or lowering landing gear or stabilizers. I forgot a couple of times and was surprised to see it still worked, but the extra stress can't be good over the long haul.
SkiSmuggs thanks for the feed back. I didn't expect the system to work as well as it did. And three years of use and going strong is good to hear for longevity.
Not many things impress me now a days, but this product took me off guard as to how good it is. And I to recommend it to everyone.
