Hey guys, I'm looking at pulling out my 360 with cracked heads and swapping it for another 360 from a parts truck I just picked up. My truck is a 71 f100 w/360/4wd/manual. The parts truck is a 73 f250 w/360/2wd/auto. I've been told two conflicting things; that the motor should be a straight bolt up, and that I'll need a converter plate for the bell housing due to the auto/manual thing; somebody want to set me straight on this??
One of the other reasons I bought the parts truck is the for the disc brakes and power steering...so with that in mind, would I be better off just swapping out the whole front axle??
Thanks, gentlemen...I always appreciate the years of wisdom this site has compiled.

I'm confused. Can you describe how this will be accomplished?
Oh yeah, good catch guys. Wasn't thinking...obviously wont work with the donor axle being a 2wd anyway. I assume that I would at least be able to swap out the drums for discs and use all the power steering pump/misc parts though right??
Thanks John. I guess I was more concerned about the auto to manual when it comes to the motor swap...was thinking I might need a bell housing adaptor? No?
Thanks,
Rick
Rick, not sure on which one you want to keep. Just retain the parts from the rear of the engine with the transmission you want to use and bolt them to the other.
