Is it really necessary to have these tools to main seals on my diesel.
I'm getting ready (this summer hopefully) to tear the 6.0 down and reseal it. The truck runs like a top, has supposedly had all the updates with stand pipes, dummy plugs, stc fittings, blue spring, but when the headgasakets were done they used factory bolts. If I tow heavy it will burp coolant, so I know there has to be a warped head or something along those lines, work was done at ford dealer just before I got the truck.
Anyway, I figured If I am going in there I may as well do both main seals, bedplate, and am debating on the lpop (but I really only have 123K on the truck)
Does anyone know of a place that I can get the tools cheaper? I looked at freedom racing, but they even want half the cost of the tools to rent.
Try ebay. I've gotten alot of specialty tools at a good pricee. Even some from ebay auction. You do need to search a bit to get from a reputable place but csn save tons of $$$
Yes, you really need the front and rear main seal tools to install them properly although if they're not leaking now then I wouldn't mess with them. Doing the top and bottom of the motor are two completely different operations entirely.
