Do you have to have a consealed permanent to have a gun in your trailer? bad guy don't have them why should we! crazy a$$ people running around with guns.Randy
You must be aware of the states laws in regards to what you are authorized to carry and how it must be stored. Even if you have a carry license it must have reciprocity for the state you are currently in.
I have already begun getting rid of my "assault weapons" due to our plans of going full time. I bought an ARES SCR and chambered it for 7.62 and 308 with 2 separate uppers. This rifle is legal in all 50 states because of the modified AR lower receiver and the stock is fixed. Hand gun laws can vary so much that I don't think there is a blanket statement of yes or no you will be OK or not. It is all subject to the local/state laws.
I can tell you this though, I plan to treat the trailer as my home and if I am stopped and LE search the trailer for some unknown reason and find a weapon, I will handle it at that time. I will have a concealed carry license most likely from SD, but that will not save me from local laws or park laws.
It is my understanding of Texas gun laws that we are allowed to carry a weapon in the auto (truck) and/or our trailer as it is looked on as an extension of our residence without a carry license. Other states? Unknown.
As Sous points out many states have reciprocity agreements which allow one state's carry license to be recognized by another's.
If there is a state that says I cannot have a firearm in my extended home, I will not go there! My RV trailer is an extension of my home, therefore my castle!
Do your own homework on this matter because it's your butt they'll be hauling away if you're somewhere that you shouldn't be with it. It only takes 1 LEO that doesn't understand the law to make a costly headache for you.
DO NOT carry a weapon in NY or NJ (or Canada), especially a hand gun, in an RV unless you have the proper state issued permits. You can and will go to jail. A long gun, you may get some slack cut. Only the bad guys are 'allowed' to carry hand guns here without permits.
If you are driving in Connecticut with a carry permit, the handgun has to be on your person. Or transporting to a gun shop no ammo.
You can not have it in the center counsel or glove compartment or under the seat. CT is one of the worst state on guns. A##h#le governor will do anything to take your license away. Him and Obama are working together to take the good guys guns and leave us helpless to defend our selves.
I was always told that if I locked the gun in a lock box and ammo in another area of the truck. I would be okay in most states. But that was a long time ago. I don't know what the accual law reads.

Gun laws from state to state are a mine field and are hard to follow. I realize most gun control people mean well, but right now they mostly make a confusing mess out of things.
I can't think of a single country where implementation of strict gun control laws made a significant difference in violence. Countries either have severe violence or they don't and strict firearm laws haven't changed that.
Also, the average bad guy does not need a gun to do their crimes because they don't pick on stronger people...they only pick on weaker people. It's the weaker people that need a firearm and often can't have a firearm handy because of ridiculous laws.
The OPs question can be answered without airing political views. Are politics even allowed on this forum? I don't come here for politics, indeed, one reason is to get away from them.
One of the problems with the Northeast is that it's basically a socialist state community. NH not included (live free or die) but that is slowly changing seeing that the surrounding states are moving in and changing the way of life there.
Last year when I was selling property and getting rid of possession in storage buildings in a couple northeast states I rented a storage unit for a month in a state that had reciprocity with SD just to put my hand guns in. It was easier to play it safe and back track the 5th wheel than be caught with them in your possession where they aren't welcomed.
