2003 Bad HPOP??

Ok, same old story so I think the writing is on the wall but I figured I'd throw it out there...03 with hot no start issues. It starts fine in the morning however will not start again after the engine gets warm, after an hour or so of cooling off it will eventually go. Not sure if I should start with....readings below and thanks in advance!

FICM L 13.5v
FICM M 48v koeo and 47 running
IPR 14.7% koeo
IPR 74.6% cranking (no start while hot)
IPR 40% (after cold start while running
ICP 737psi cold start
ICP 1600psi engine running 2k rpm
ICP 360 hot while cranking

bad pump.
buzz test #1 injector to check the connection, probably need a new one.

you don't have stand pipes, dummy plugs, STC fitting.... just the pump.
Did you check the IPR screen? Try starting with the ICP unplugged?

No I haven't checked the screen yet, I should be able to get to that from under the truck, drivers side with a special IPR socket?? The ICP and IPR are both located on the back of the oil pump housing on an 03 correct?

by unplugging the ICP, it forces the PCM to use defaulted value's and if the HPOP can produce enough pressure regardless of the digital value, should fire up.... If it can't, then it won't start and does kind of confirm a bad HPO pump.

The IPR could be plugged up, why its a good idea to check it, it allows the oil to be passed to the system.

If you have a bad ICP you can expect it to start all the time, hot or cold. Pigtails will go bad as well if the sensor leaks oil. Mine managed to shoot oil all the way up to loom where it branches off the IPR.
Always good to rule the cheaper things out first but odds are you are looking at the HPOP.
Word to the wise.............get the Adrenaline HPOP, not he cheaper Ford reman.
Plenty of frustrating tales of bad pumps out of the box, multiple times. I went reman Ford, that said would have NOT had I known better at the time and spent an extra $400. If we were talking swapping out spark plugs maybe, but this is too much work IMO.
I would not rule out an air test before teardown.

ICP unplugged and no start, I let the truck warm up for 20 min prior to unhooking it so I'm assuming the ICP is working correctly. No sightings of the IPR yet, I'm going to get the tool and then remove the ficm to hopefully get to it.

What I actually unplugged was the IPR, I still have no idea where the ICP is located as I cant see it from above or below. At this point I guess it's time to order a new HPOP, ICP and IPR.

Early builds for us lucky owners is under the IPR, for most folks "easiest" from below.
Even if yours is good you might need to access it some day without HPOP troubles.
Up to you but I would test it unplugged first and then try a hot start.
Still recommend an air test to rule out a leak under the valve covers........again, not as likely but possible.

You probably don't even need to jack it up, there is quite a bit of clearance under there unless you can't get a creeper underneath.
Did you ever get the socket for the IPR? Reason I ask is it would not hurt to check the screen before teardown. You will have your FICM out at that point anyway if your ICP checks out fine.
HPOP is not a horrible job, just takes some time especially if one has not done one.
Just remember, before taking anything apart once you are down to the cover, you should be able to eat off the valley surface and feel good about it, or crap WILL find it's way back in the hole and end up in the IPR screen, bringing you back full circle to pulling it again to clean and or replace after troubleshooting. All your oil, and some point, will see that screen. Just imagine you are doing surgery and keep things buttoned up in between things.
What kind of deltas are you seeing right now? If you are pushing 15* it's the perfect time to replace the oil cooler.

Go ahead and laugh, it's ok.

Ok, so I pulled the IPR , clean as a whistle, not even a spec on the screen. ICP was full of oil so I replaced that with a ford one, put her all back together and it did the same thing!! I'm trying to find a hose with a fitting so I can do the air check now but I'm leaning heavily on the pump. Doing the ICP and IPR wasn't really as bad as I though, I did them from the top and the thing I had most problem with was plugging the ICP back in. I'm heading out now to take apart everything I just put together so I can see if I can get the air test done. Oh, I had 700-800 psi after cold start idle, over 3000 psi under hard acceleration and 1200 or so just cruising down the road.....????
