When I had the channel type installed in my 06, they used a heat gun to ensure proper forming of the channel for the initial fit. I would think a nice hair dryer and a few minutes would do the same. It should reduce the time one has to let the truck set in the sun to make the shades form.
I bit the bullet and got them. I made the mistake when I ordered them and didn't select the darker tinted ones and they won't accept returns after the package was opened. No big deal if it bothers me in the long run I'll toss them on eBay. As for fit I cleaned the channels out with simple green and alot of rags before installation. Once I had them in the window fussed about refusing to go up. I kept at it till there was a loud click and they roll up flawlessly now. Thanks for the input I prefer the clean look of the inchannel vs the stick on type. And as for wind I was fighting wind today and it was no louder then what you normally hear from the weaherstripping. Come spring I'm going to do the mod for the weatherstripping to help reduce that some as well. Again thanks for the input!
