2016 headlight led or hid?

I'm thinking about upgrading the headlight bulbs on my 2016 f350. I can get bulbs made by a company called competition electronics through a distributor at a reasonable price. They offer both led and hid so I want to know which one is better. Thank you in advance.

I have run both in my 2012. My first HID kit was a brightsource unit. It blinded oncoming traffic so I had to pull it. Crazy good light out of it though. I went to LED bulbs next. They provided a great low beam but the high beam wasn't much different as far as light output. It took awhile to "index" one bulb to get it to shine right. One finally burnt out and the warranty was up so I started looking for other options. I found that brightsource had an updated "sfb" bulb that was supposed to reduce glare and not blind oncoming drivers. I rolled the dice and it turned out good! Good light output and no blinding oncoming drivers! A worthy upgrade.

We put a set of LED's in my wifes Yukon and she loves them. The output is outstanding. I especially like the fact that they are instant and don't have a delay like a lot of the HID.

I like the LEDs, but it really depends on the shape of the housing and the orientation of the bulb. Your reflectors are designed for a bulb that emits light 360 degrees. LEDs are often 180 although some are getting closer to 360. Anyway, LED work very well in my ATV pod light housing. LEDs are oriented at the 12 o clock position and that works well with the reflector. I put them in my wife's Grand Vitara in the projector low beam housing and they are not any brighter than the crappy halogens the replaced and I believe this is because of the beam spread.

All that being said, it seems like the biggest improvement you can make is doing an HID projector retrofit.

You can make them yourself with a kit from here: https://www.theretrofitsource.com/co...rsal-kits.html

Or places will make them for you: https://shop.retroshop.us/ProductDet...de=FD11%2ECUST
All Out Industries

Hope this helps

If you're going to go HID you really need projectors. You cannot simply put a HID bulb into the existing housing.

My headlight build is post 253.
There are lots of other superduty headlights on this link for your reference.

The light output over OEM is phenomenal.

I think around $1250. But once I got into it, I started going a little overboard. The bulbs alone were over $200. I could have went with $40 bulbs. Looking back I probably would have nixed the halos, I rarely use them. But my son thought they looked cool.

Bryyce62 is that price with new headlights or sending them your headlights ? I have a 16 f350 lariat with condensation in my headlights but the dealer is saying it's not enough condensation to have the replaced under warranty

I had BFC buy some aftermarket OEM clones, as they're called. I'm out West and they're back East & I wanted to be able to drive my rig while they were building my lights. It was 5 or 6 weeks from the time I told them to build them before I actually took delivery.
So to answer your question, yes, the cost included new headlight assemblies, the fab and cost of the projectors, lamps, shrouds, LED halos, ballasts & wiring. Shipping prolly too.
I still have my OEM headlights just in case.....

I'm not happy with the light output from the stock lamps on my 2011 F-350 and has been mentioned, I note very little difference between high and low beam. I also was wondering about the LED bulbs as an alternative but it sounds here like the results are disappointing. I've been considering an aftermarket light with projectors and halos similar to the ones here:
Amazon.com: 2011-2015 Ford F-Series Superduty Black CCFL Halo Projector Headlights w/LED Upgrade Pair Left+Right 2012 2013 2014: Automotive Amazon.com: 2011-2015 Ford F-Series Superduty Black CCFL Halo Projector Headlights w/LED Upgrade Pair Left+Right 2012 2013 2014: Automotive
I only want to do this once and am interested to hear how others have solved this problem. Tagging along on the thread.

Those look pretty cool and at a price that won't break the bank. Please post back if you decide to go with these.
Edit: OK, I looked at them long enough and jumped on the one click purchase button! Damn you Steve!

I have a set of those in my garage. Ran them for about 2 weeks. Came to the conclusion that they weren't any better than stock. Could have been the bulbs, but I wasn't happy with them. It's not a bi-xenon setup either, so the hi-beams are conventional halogen bulbs.
I went with a custom build from BFC after removing these headlights.

Lights arrived from Amazon today. Installed them when they arrived, already had the grill and stock lights out and waiting.
Might try to post another of what they look like at night. But here's what we have so far.

I got a chance to use them early this morning, as I had to be at work by 4 AM. The high beams are OK. The low beams are terrible. More like fog lights without much forward illumination.
I've written to the vendor via Amazon's website to see if there's any method of adjustment. I don't see an obvious one. If not, they're going back.
