I was replacing my instrument panel illumination lamp and was checking the other bulbs in the dash while I had everything tore apart. I noticed the following:
1. I have two brake warning lamps in the cluster
a. One Near the Left bottom
b. One near the 4x4 light.
2. I thought when you turned the ignition to ON that it would perform a bulb check, but it did not light
In the manual it states that the lamp on the left side should momentarily light to indicate system readiness. If not, seek the dealer tech out. I tested the bulb and even switched a good bulb in for the existing. I tested the contacts for voltage and there was none.
What can I do to fix this? What may be wrong? Why do I have 2 places on my instrument panel for the same indicator?
If no one has an idea, are there some tests I can perform that should force the light to come on? Or any place I can go to research this?
Thanks!
When you set the parking brake, does one of them light up? There should also be a sensor on your master cylinder to read fluid level. If you disconnect the plug, that should indicate low brake fluid and the system not ready light should come on.
When I set my parking brake it does not turn on any light. I tried to get the plug off the fluid reservoir but I cannot get it to come off. Is it a special clip?
