Can anyone tell me what this is. If it's a light I've never seen it light. The truck is a 4X4 and has a amp, and temp, gauge. Could this be where the 4X4 indactor light is on a full time. Former owner said this truck was full time when he got it. And he had lock outs put on it. The truck is a 78-150. https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...=73033&width=2
Hey Fordfury,
The brake light is on the right side of the cluster and the seatbelt light is on the left. They have visable lettering on them. I can't read anything on this.
I don't have that on either my 78 or 79. The printed circuit boards on the clusters I have do have a place for a bulb there, but there's no hole in the cluster itself. I think you're right about it being the 4x4 indicator. I've been studying the electrical diagrams for the 78/9 over the past few days as I built a custom instrument panel, and I remember seeing the 4x4 indicator lamp in there somewhere. And, that's the only place on the printed circuit board that doesn't have a matching hole in the cluster.
It's not the brake light though. That's on the side next to the turn signal.
I've never seen a light there...now I'm curious too. Can you remove the cover, pull the bulb and shine a light inside to see what the light says when lit? Do you know if that is the original cluster?
All the 4x4 lights that I've seen are seperate and mount to the bottom of the dash under the ash tray. I've never seen a 73-79 with a 4x4 light in the dash.
Ok I got a light behind it and it does say ECONOMY, So my question now is what is a economy light? Oh yeah,, as far as I know it is the original cluster.
Thanks guys! I had no clue what an economy light was. I've had this truck for almost three years now and I just noticed that light this morning. There was no bulb in the socket and I guess it will stay that way. I may stick a bulb in it to see if it still works. But I don't think I need anymore dash lights. Especially one that's gonna be on day and night.
Thanks! Ken,
I have it in my 75 SC. There is a vacume switch on the fire wall in the engine compartment vacume hose on top and single wire on bottom (disconnected of course). It is white on top and blue on the bottom. Heard a comment in another thread of a person who was going to hardwire the the light "on" with his 460.
