I took delivery of my F250 12 days ago, and my Rancho shocks are already rusting in multiple spots. I can't even say that without laughing it's so ridiculous!! What do you think?
Be aware that those shocks are not Rancho shocks, they are actually FoMoCo shocks with Rancho stickers on them. I think they have more in common with Monroe shocks (owned by Rancho) than they do any kind of off road shock.
I suggest you go over it with a wire brush and hit it with a good coat of white Rustoleum paint.
I'll take some pics tomorrow with some daylight... I'd like to get the adjustable Ranchos eventually. I used to have a truck with a large Superlift in it, and I took the shocks off and repainted them pretty much annually. It's too much to ask to keep anything white looking good underneath a truck. I've whined about rust on this forum before and my apologies for that, but I literally can't wrap my mind around it sometimes!
I could never figure out why shock companies have to paint shocks all kinds of dumb colors to begin with. I always end up painting them black before putting them on. If you like the factory color give them a couple coats of clear engine paint.
ive installed some rancho 9000 series shocks and I really like them so far but I only have about 500 miles on them. I wanted an adjustable shock as I have a ranch hand winch bumper grill guard with a 17.5 winch. Just a tad bit of above stock weight on the front end so thought an adjustable shock may be a good step.
