Bet that stuff is not cheap, I would like to make some rubber parts also.

About a hundred US for a gallon in total. That's a lot of bushings for a hundred bucks. I don't have much choice as some of the parts I need aren't made or reproduced anymore. I use vytaflex 30 all the time to make molds for casting so I know the product. You don't have to mix the whole gallon at once so it can last a long time. I'll post the process once I get the links all cleaned up.

If I may take you back to your first page where you found the stock 18" wheels on one side with the 20s on the other side. If you still have the 18s, may I ask you to look for part numbers on them. Probably on the concave rim lips. Few other trucks of the era used 18s, and I'm wondering about their width and offset. Thanks. Stu

18" rims

No problem checking the rims for you Stu. I work 12 hour shifts at a Nuke plant so my next day off is Tuesday. I'll check then. Are you interested in the rims because they are probably going to just rot in my back field? Not for sale, you can have them.

Polyurethane bushings

Got most of the drag links sandblasted, powder coated and cast the poly urethane bushings in place.

Had to use a drill to remove the old disintegrating rubber bushings

Sandblasted and powdered the old links. Taped up the parts I didnt want covered in polyurethane. Centered the pivot points in the ends of the links and poured in the poly.

I poured the urethane over the taped up ends and let it run down and fill the cavity. Vytaflex has the consistency of honey, isnt full of bubbles and has a working pot life of an hour.

Finished links

Links ready to reinstall. Hopefully they'll last another 75 years.

This particular mix is just like hard rubber. You can flex it but it is tough like a lacrosse ball or a car tire. It says it will stretch 400% before it will tear and the Poly doesn't have a memory like rubber so it should last. The mix is available in a range of strengths. See my previous posts with the link to the manufacturer.

3D printed a mold for my frame bumpers that have long since rotted away. Not a purchaseable item anymore so used this as an excuse to play.

Mixed a combination of hard and softer polyurethane into the molds after spraying with release agent. I wouldn't mix them like this again.

Finished rubber bumpers ready to install.

I thought you might be interested in the possible origin of your truck. Since you're in central Canada, Pierre Thibault of Pierreville Quebec may have been the builder of your truck, as they supplied many crash tenders for the RCAF.

I'll again take this opportunity to ask if anybody has one of these trucks for parts. I already got three of Chad's 18" Budds and am looking for others. Thanks again, Chad. Stu
