ok im new here,1st post. sorry in advanced if in wrong place but I have searched and couldn't really find an answer, so here it is: kind of long, I live in a deed restricted community with tight narrow side yard so I want to add a front mount hitch to push the boat in back yard with out getting into neighbors, here is the problem , my stock set up gives me a lot of rake, so I need to level my ride to keep it from really putting my bumper to the ground, not a lot of tongue weight but you get the pic....right, so what would be the best product be to install to lift it and give me a good foundation for that momentary extra weight..thanks in advance
are you looking to keep the nose from sagging after the added weight of the front hitch is installed, or while you are pushing your boat around or both? Do you want to keep some rake to your truck or completely level it out? Many members her install leveling kits ranging from 1"-2 1/2" to either remove the factory rake all together or just to have less rake. They would be the better persons to give you more info. with that said, I would have the hitch installed before doing anything that way you can then see how much it sags and the add the appropriate leveling kit to get the results you want.
curious why you are concerned with how much the front end squats when the trailer is hooked up. for the short amount of time you'd be hooked up I don't think it would make a difference even if you were on the bump-stops.
I don't think the dead weight of the hitch would make much difference in every day driving, but I guess it could make a small difference.
I've got them in the rear of my expedition and they do reduce the squat under load by a fair amount while not noticeably altering the unloaded ride-height or ride quality. Super easy installation, too.
No I'm not concerned of the added weight when pushing boat in yard, just really want to level out truck, trying to find the best product for the right coin, and yes I'm installing the hitch first, it only weighs 46 lbs., so I'm not worried about that part
I forgot to mention in original post that I have the max tow package, so I'm thinking 2- 21/2 inch increase on the front
The higher you go the harder it is on the ball joints. I have 2" AutoSpring in mine and IIRC it gave me a little more than 2". I ended up doing 3" rear blocks because it "appeared" nose high even though it measured level, and with any load in the bed it looked ridiculous. My buddy went with 1.5" and it was closer to 2" installed. Don't forget to have it realigned also
