Hey guys I have a 1979 f150 with a 302 and a c4 also its 2wd
The problem I'm having is in drive it seems to be dragging butin 1 it moves fine I've adjusted the linkage and put a new vaccum modulator on it I can not figure out the problem any help would be really appreciated thanks!
You sure you have a C-4 and not a C-6? Did you ck that there WAS a vacuum on the line that goes to the vacuum modulator? And have you serviced it lately like with new fluid and filter?
Yes I checked the line the line last night and it had vaccum. I had the trans rebuilt by cottman transmission and it was built like 4 times and I've only put like 15 miles each time before it broke so for them replacing the filter I am unsure but I just changed the fluid last week. Also I got a green ring on my modulator and it seemed to be the correct color. My transmission is a pan fill c4. thanks!
So you have a rebuilt tranny that they have hit and missed 4 times and it still isnt right? And now you have changed the fluid? There goes any warranty you might have had. You should have made them make it right or refunded your money. Through the legal system if necessary. You "might" still have legal recourse if you havent dropped the pan. And dont tell anyone you did. It kind of sounds like maybe it isnt starting out in low when you have it in drive. Possibly in 2nd or even 3rd. How does it shift? If you manually shift it does it go through the gears ok? Does it downshift when you come to a stop?
I have been fighting with them for like 2 months and they won't do anything they also put the wrong flywheel in my truck and cused me up and down saying its correct and I'm stupid but it manually shifts through all fine and seems to downshift but I need to adjust the modulator alittle bit for second to come in earlier. thanks!
