Hey guys, I was hoping to see some your interiors, just the finished part of them. I'm looking for ideas to finish the interior on mine. I've got the framework done for mine, but I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do for the finished look. I thought of wood and/or carpeting, but I figured if I saw someone else's that I really liked that maybe I would come up with a different idea. Go ahead and post up pictures please! Thanks
Mine is a Mark III conversation van and the interior is quite simple.. It is mostly 1/4" paneling with a cloth material glued to it... I believe the process is to spray or brush a glue on both surfaces and let it get tacky, then lay the cloth, vinyl, leather, or what ever material you choose on the 1/4" paneling..
here is a pic of one of my door panels I removed to see how much water was getting in my front door due to bad window sweeps.

You might be able to make out where they used 3/16" staples on the back side to hold the edges in place. Some of my interior material is a vinyl and other cloth. in areas where they needed to screw the panels or trim on, they used a screw cover over the head of the screws..
this is vinyl on the overhead which I plan on putting storage in..

All this in the back and ceiling is cloth. I plan on cutting storage in the rear drop down also. I think the center ceiling panel is held up by the strips on each side.
Both my 85 and 88 are done the same way..
This guy makes recovering a dash look really easy.

I am thinking about pulling the carpet out of mine and putting in vinyl flooring too. The carpet gets dirty too fast. Throw rugs or carpet scraps are easy to clean.
Thanks for the compliment. I would really like to put the blinds back in but they are metal and bend too easy.
You can use a variety of different materials for the walls and ceilings. HomeDepot sells a 1/4" plywood underlayment 4x8 sheets that is moisture resistant for around 10 bucks a sheet. It will bend fairly easy and could be just screwed in place then covered. Its made to glue vinyl flooring to so you could also glue carpet or about any thing to it..

I happened to find one of those area rugs at Home Depot that was originally $60+ for only $15 and cut it to fit between the two frames under the dinette. The area right in front of the stove and sink I'd rather have as real tile though, and then I'll continue with the carpet on the other side and down the step.
I'll try to get some pics in here and a general floor plan so that everyone has a better idea what I'm talking about.
No pics, but we have had 5 conversion vans over the years. My favorite covering for van walls is good old **** carpeting glued onto masonite or plywood panels. I had one of my Turtle Top vans redone by a local van guy and used carpeting instead of the stretched fabric. (Original Turtle Top was wood grain sticky vinyl--yuk.) Carpet is the best to fend off scuffs from cargo, etc. We carry bicycles and handlebars or chains can snag or stain fabrics.
My current E150 has the typical fabric stretched over panels and it's mostly holding up OK but there are some stains on it that would not show if it was carpeted.
Depending on how dirty you get the floor, vinyl or rubber flooring may make more sense than carpeting for cleaning.

Minus the carpet cleaning if I ever have to clean the walls I can't think of a better way to finish the inside, besides it'll add a few more R value with the air trapped in the fibers.
I might add in some trim panels covered in crushed velvet to break it up. The carpeting on the floor isn't attached to the floor at all so I can remove it before I have to transport anything.
All that being said I was hoping that someone else had some epic interior that Id rather have lol
I don't have any photos of mine currently. But I have been thinking how to improve the interior of my van. I love my Ford Chateau seats with purple piping. They are extremely comfortable. Four captain chairs and a bench is how it comes from factory. I did buy a mismatching fourth row seat and put it in the back when I need to haul more people for $50.
I wish I had a way to keep the carpet cleaner. It's not dirty, but its not impeccable. Since I use the van to haul anything/everything, it serves dual purpose as toy hauler and passenger carrier. I love taking trips in the vehicle but only problem I have is diesel fumes come in the car from time to time in the back.
