I have a 2010 F250 with 6.4L diesel and tow a 36' 5th wheel. When going up a fairly steep grade going out of town about 3/4 mile up the hill the engine occasionally starts making a very loud high pitched noise, ( sounds like a jet engine or a boat motor cavitating) The tac does not change and the truck does not loose power, once I get to the top the noise subsides and the truck works normally. This also happens sometimes when the truck is cold. Resolves in a minute or two when it warms up.
Has anyone else experienced this? Do you know what it is? Is it a problem? My mechanic thinks it might be the electronic fan kicking into high gear, or the turbo.
The truck seems to work normally otherwise. Has lots of power to pull the 5th wheel.
