Ok I've been looking at a lot of light bars lately. I like being able to light up the night. I know not to use when on the main roads when other cars are coming. But there is so many different models out there. What's the difference from the $100-$300 models to the awesome kc gravity pro6 for $1300? Or ones that are that priced?
Curved or straight ?
My goal is to Make it easier to see when driving like high beams. I want something that will last.
I have not seen any led light bars in the $100-300 range that I would consider driving lights, they are adequate as work or tast lights but are a far cry from say a Baja designs or rigid industries led driving light. I have used a 40" Baja design led on the race truck and even as boy howdy as they are I think they are best used as fill in lights for your HID driving lights ( or high beams ) like you are describing.
The difference between the Ebay $300 and a legit $1300 unit is going to be the light output in brightness, pattern and aiming. For $1300 you are buying 10w diodes and electronic drivers to power them not 2w like every one I have seen on eBay ( even though they claim otherwise)
Both rigid and Baja designs will configure your bar with the combo of spot and flood to meet your spec.
That said, my kid has a Ebay led light bar that is 2 years old and other then the condensation in the lens the lights still turn on so I guess it has lasted at least that long. He just wanted it for the looks anyhow.
I have this cheap light on the front of my Ex. It throws out a ton of light, and has been a perfect substitute for my high beams while running in the Pacific Northwest coastal mountains!
