Hello all its been a long while since I've been here got a question? Im would like to replace my plastic vacuum lines i have a 88 f150 with a 5.0 2wd my main question is are what size hose do i need and around how many feet for the plastic hose only 4 now, anyways. And any other parts i may need for the job. Also I do not have a vacuum line diagram sticker on my truck either, so i will do the lines 1 at a time but how would you mark the lines 4 later if at all any ideas and input is greatly appreciated! Thanks all scrobbie (Rob)
I'd just take a bit of each type of line with me to the auto parts store and get a whole roll of the stuff. Hardline and softline are generally readily available, and most autoparts stores have all the vacuum connectors you might need as well.
Agreed i just dont wanna get to carried away because of no vacuum diagram i mean most of the plastic line ends generally look the same at least to the naked eye anyways. I did wanna buy a whole roll but i didn't wanna buy a roll of 3/16 id hose if all the connections are not 3/16 you know brother lol my old lady would kill me if i bought whole rolls of different vacuum line lol if thats what u meant, that is thanks for the info lead head
I purchased about 25-30ft of vacuum line for my 4.9l and still had left overs replaces damn near everything under the hood. I will have to find pictures somewhere I posted them a while ago but I have a new phone and don't have pictures on it. I can take a picture of the size of hose you need sometime tomorrow

NM found a photo of it on google
I enlarged the pic and it says 5/32 on the hose did u just plug the hose directly to each part of the engine or use fittings like the factory ones on the plastic lines?

I just plugged them where they were just plugged in and then put new plastic elbows where they needed to be. And I ziptied them at ever connection
Plastic elbows where? You mean if they were needed in the engine bay? Thanks again
Not sure about your engine layout. But on my 4.9l it has the solenoids on the driver side under the intake manifold there are some 90 degree elbows that needed to be replaced.
I re did them on my 91 f150 4x4 5.0,I bought a 25ft roll of 5/32'' and a little kit of tees and y's.I had about 4 foot of hose left.Think I spent around $30 on everything.Took about 30 minutes to do,do 1 line at a time if you can.

Where did you get a 25' roll of hose all i can seem to find is a 50 or like a 10' pc and autozone sells it for 1.39 a foot at least the 50' on Amazon for around 17.00 dollars i just dont wanna have a whole roll of extra like that thanks again
Here's what i was told on another F150 frorum when i first bought my truck:
"Replace the small diameter vacuum lines right away, it will save you some headaches down the road. The OEM plastic lines just get super brittle over time and can crack just by looking at them cross-eyed. I ordered 22ft of 4mm line from http://www.siliconeintakes.com/silic...686d47fdf65361. It's super thick walled high quality silicone that will last forever. It's $0.99/ft, which is about double what regular rubber lines cost at the auto parts store but this is a one and done replacement that you won't ever have to touch again and will probably outlast your truck. You will also need a 4-way vacuum tee (or two 3-way tees) available at any auto/hardware store for a couple of bucks."
