I've got a 1953 f-100 with the original 215 being restored at this moment. Just curious who has one out there because I never see them from where I come from.
I don't know how many 53's came with the Fordamatic transmission, but it was the first year
Ford offered the automatic so I would assume there weren't too many sold. I personally have never seen one. So I guess we could say they were/are rare.
I like the color of the truck. What's it called? Did it come with the fordomatic?
The color is Glacier Blue. It was one of the colors available on the '53s. The paint was a PPG acrylic that I bought about eight years ago. When I finally got around to painting the truck last fall, I had to buy another gallon of the same color in a reformulated paint (that meets current VOC standards). The new paint was slightly lighter. I do not know if it is the new paint or the eight year old paint that is the "true" Glacier Blue. The difference was very slight; I used the new paint on the inside of fenders, the hood, the bottom of the cab, and the interior.
My truck came with the three speed column shift. I assume that it was original to the truck. I've owned the truck since since 1974. I have no reason to think that anyone changed much between 1953 and when I bought it.
