After getting my tailgate handle and throws all greased and working like butter, the RH link rod that was stretched out a bit snapped after 4 or 5 test runs.
Other than a junkyard, where I'll probably find others ready to snap, anyone know of a decent source for these? I only come up with later years for the rods.
For the time being, I ran some 12 gauge house wire to replace the one rod as a temp solution so I can make some dump runs and paver pickups. Works OK but I really don't want to baby it for too long.
I've seen them somewhere for sale, but I'm not finding them. However, I've not had one of the original ones snap, and I've had several of these trucks. So, I'd go to a salvage before going aftermarket since I think the quality will be better.
Not knowing what it looks like (bends) and thinking it is 1/8" rod could you pick up round stock from the hardware or big box store and make one?
Little heat to make the bends would help.

81f-150 - Thanks for the LMC Truck tip. I did a little searching and couldn't find the rods anywhere and didn't think of LMC.
FuzzFace2 - I had thought about doing that but my attention span has been a bit lacking lately.
Gary - that makes sense. The one that snapped was pretty twisted/bent up and with all the things I've come across from POs I'm sure the attempt at making the tailgate handle function had a lot to do with it. The best one so far was the driver's window being held up in place with a wired in, sawed off baseball bat...
