I've never seen the show but I'm guessing they run around at wide open throttle whenever possible belching clouds of smoke, rattling the windows in people's houses, and have a turbo whistle that would drown out a fire truck siren.

I see and hear them around here all the time.

I'm not opposed to those things when needed such as on a dump truck pulling away from a stop light with a full load of gravel. They are actually working. I have a 6.5 Chevy with a straight pipe that has a nice sound to it but I don't drive it like I stole it just to draw attention to myself.

It's the knuckle heads that run around in their diesel daily driver grocery getters doing it for no other reason than to draw attention to themselves.

People are noticing.

I'm all for protecting the environment but I'm completely against retardation like this. Someone recently proposed forcing NASCAR to run all electric cars. Retarded. I don't like the inconvenience and added expense of purchasing a modern diesel with DEF, DPF, etc. But I'm willing to put up with it in order to continue driving a diesel which sounds and operates like a real truck. I will not drive, or rather be driven, in some piece of crap plastic capsule with multi-colored words on the side. I am seriously holding out hope the "right" side can win in November.

those boys on Diesel Brothers are pretty conservative when driving around town. Other than when the cameras are turned on. Even then, I don't think you see many shots of them rolling coal on public roads. Here in Northern Utah any body can document where they saw you blowing black smoke and turn you and you will get a notice to bring your truck in for testing. And many of the county air quality cars are now fitted with Dash Cams or GoPros to document trucks blowing excess smoke.

But what they do out in a field or a back lot or in the other counties away from the Wasatch Front isn't reportable.

But that is the crowd that show caters to. Kids wanting to blow black smoke. I keep telling my nephew he better be putting away some of that money he is making on his 5 minutes of fame, Because it will not last

For being conservative they sure have a boat load of YouTube videos showing otherwise.

Hate to break it to you, but the new wood burning and fuel burning stoves have cats on them... I wouldn't say they are unregulated. You can run your old one till the end of time, just like you can still drive a pre-2007 diesel without a DPF on it.

And especially wood burning stoves are starting to get targeted in Alaska. The air quality (especially in Fairbanks) goes to unhealthy during the winter (assuming you are below the inversion layer) because of it.

Good advice for your Nephew, PH. I hope he heeds it. I am pretty certain he will make millions doing the show - and if he does it right will be set for life.

I learn to pick and fight my battles and after listening to the young guys on job sites I realize how lost this world really is sort of sad glad I'll be dead soon lol

Now I don't care which side of the Harley open pipe issue you are on, just look how they get away with it because the cowards we have for leaders will only go after those without political power.

Sure wish I still had my blue-printed, 4.33 geared, 68 Olds 442 W30 with headers. Ate those GTO's for lunch.

How is this enforceable?

Are they going to be standing by every crew pit with a micrometer checking every part?

All that manufacturer's have to do is put a disclaimer on their parts, "For show or prototype use only", or something like that.

"We are not responsible for the engine that the end user puts this is in. It only fits engine serial number 56669. Any other fitting is purely coincidental".

Useless regulations are just that. Useless. They are only there so that some functional group in the EPA can get a feather in their cap and a set of steak knives.

Sure wish I still had my 64 Corvette 375 HP, 4:11 gears that ate Olds 442 W30's for a snack on the way to the house of Cobra, with my front license plate that said Snake Eater...

Friend of mine bought one and he bought it for the mpg. Well he is a pilot keeps a log book. The think never broke 42 mpg, well he was disappointed but still better than his BMW he traded in.

Then as he was going into year 6 he woke up one day to needing to buy the battery pack. He drive out at hair past $5,000 LIGHT in the wallet. He was not real happy but figured the offset was mpg, so I asked him. Take your avg cost per gallon x , now add $5k to it and divide by miles driven. He did, now he is talking about going and getting another BMW...

Not to mention they have a larger environmemtal impact when you figure in the batteries needing to be manufactured and disposed of.

I think there are a lot of people who buy them so they can project the impression that they are environmentally conscious. Kind of like a few years back when all the movie stars or whatever flew in on their private or chartered jets and then drove to the big awards show in the hybrids and battery powered cars. I think they did something similar in DC.

They'll start with the manufacturers. They'll prosecute the crap out of them until the rest of the industry is so scared that no one would even consider it. This has already happened to a few tuner companies. They can put what ever labeling on they want, it won't matter as the legal fees would be out of sight for a small performance company win or loose.

As far as locals go there are already enough laws on the books to nail the coal rollers to the wall. Any Leo can ticket for exhibition driving. Once a person gets hit with that a few times, pretty soon the insurance rates will become so high that person will eventually get the picture.
